After two weeks of observing mucus of the same quantity, quality or sensation, you may resume sexual relations on alternate evenings. This is called the Basic Infertile Pattern. You must abstain on alternate evenings so that you can positively identify a change in mucus. When a change is noted, it could mean that your fertile phase has begun. You may notice an increase in the amount, quantity or quality of mucus or a change in sensation. If pregnancy is to be achieved, marital relations are recommended on days of elastic, wet, and slippery mucus.
